This year in art we art exploring artists work habits and studio spaces. We are observing what inspires them, what mediums they use, how they work, and what routines they use. We are also taking a look at the skill sets of an artists; most artists being very multifaceted and talented in many areas not only limited to the arts. Some questions we will ask ourselves include:
I'm excited to be exposing my students to these ideas. In elementary, it is easy for kids to lack confidence because of their fear of making mistakes. My hope is that my students will realize the process of learning and experimenting is more important than the final product.
- How do artists invent?
- What makes them creative?
- What observations do they make about the world around them? How do they record their ideas and observations?
- How does curiosity make us a better artists?
- Is the process more important than the product?
- Why is their art important?
